After years—years—of bureaucrats clinging to buzzwords like “diversity,” “equity,” and “inclusion” like they were holy relics from Mount Woke, Stephen Miller walked into the White House press room and basically tossed them all into the ideological trash bin. And let’s be honest, it was about time someone did.
Miller, flanked by the impressively unbothered Karoline Leavitt, delivered what many conservatives have been waiting to hear for a long, long time: that under a second Trump administration, merit is back on the menu. Yes, merit—remember that little idea? You work hard, you get rewarded. You earn your spot, not because of the color of your skin, your gender identity, or how many oppression points you’ve racked up, but because you’re the best person for the job. Radical, right?
His statement was crystal clear and—dare I say—refreshing: “This administration is not going to let our society devolve into communist, woke, DEI strangulation.” Now that’s a phrase that should be printed on coffee mugs across America. The message? If your primary skill set is crying about systemic injustice on TikTok while holding a degree in gender studies, you might want to update that résumé—because Uncle Sam is no longer footing the bill for your identity-based sinecure.
Let’s talk economics, shall we? Miller didn’t just stick to the culture war fireworks (though he certainly delivered those); he laid out the case that this isn’t just about restoring sanity to hiring practices—it’s about growth, innovation, and investment. In other words, if you want America to compete, to win, to lead, you can’t staff your institutions with people picked to fill out a demographic spreadsheet. You hire the most qualified. Period. That’s how you get better jobs, better services, and yes, a better country.
One of the most cutting parts of Miller’s argument was his analogy about the emergency room. It’s so simple, it hurts: nobody in crisis gives a flying fig about their doctor’s identity markers. They want competence. They want skill. And frankly, isn’t that what we should want all the time? Why is that even controversial?
The Trump administration clearly isn’t stopping with the federal bureaucracy. Nope. They’re setting their sights on the ivory towers too. That’s right, Harvard—you’re on notice. The Department of Education’s February letter made it crystal clear: reform or lose funding. Not next decade. By August 2025. And lest anyone think this is just political theater, the message had teeth: fix your admissions, clean up your leadership, and maybe—just maybe—stop welcoming in students who can’t seem to distinguish between “academic freedom” and “cheering for terrorists.”
But of course, Harvard has refused to comply. Because why wouldn’t they? This is the same institution that thinks importing antisemitic ideology under the banner of academic diversity is just another day at the office. The same Harvard that can’t seem to find its spine when students march around chanting for the destruction of Israel—but will write five-page statements condemning microaggressions. What a time to be alive.
The truth is, Americans are tired of DEI being used as a shield to push policies that are discriminatory in practice and divisive by design. We’ve seen how it plays out: mediocrity, resentment, lowered standards, and the silencing of dissenting voices. What Trump’s administration is doing isn’t just necessary—it’s overdue.

So yes, the message is loud and clear: pack up the DEI binders, cancel the workshops, and maybe, just maybe, start judging people by what they can actually do instead of what boxes they check. Welcome back, meritocracy. We missed you.
