On 3/20/2024, it was widely reported that Judge Scott McAfee, who was overseeing the RICO case against Trump, made a major decision.

Recently, McAfee ordered that either Special Council Nathan Wade or Willis would need to step aside from the case. In the ruling McAfee hinted Willis may commit several ethics violations and that other investigations over her behavior may follow.

In a brief order, McAfee is allowing former President Trump to appeal his recent ruling, declining to disqualify Willis immediately.

“This is highly significant,” Steve Sadow, Trump’s lead Georgia attorney, said in a statement.

“It means the defense is permitted to apply to the Georgia Court of Appeals for pretrial review of the Judge’s order refusing to dismiss the case or disqualify Fulton County DA Willis,” he added. “The defense is optimistic that appellate review will lead to the case being dismissed and the DA being disqualified.”

McAfee did state that other pretrial motions will still be addressed despite the appeal.

“The Court intends to continue addressing the many other unrelated pending pretrial motions, regardless of whether the petition is granted within 45 days of filing, and even if any subsequent appeal is expedited by the appellate court,” McAfee wrote in his ruling.

It appears that this appeal will get passed up the chain until a judge decides.

Even liberals seem to see the writing on the wall over this case. MSNBC contributor Andrew Weissman wants Willis to step down and called her a “liability.”
