President Joe Biden made a rare appearance on Monday night, sitting down with popular late-night talk show host Seth Meyers as the two celebrated the 10th anniversary of Meyers’ show. During the interview, the president addressed a number of topics, including his relationship with global music phenomenon Taylor Swift.
Joking during the segment, the pair discussed a popular conspiracy theory that suggests the president and his campaign may be working with Swift and her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, to gain the endorsement of Gen-Z voters and football fans.
Meyers questioned Biden about the conspiracy saying: ‘I have you on the hotspot here. Can you confirm or deny that there is an active conspiracy between you and Miss Swift?
Meyers asked Biden directly if there was any truth to the rumors, to which the president responded with a playful, “it’s classified.”
Biden, currently facing record-low approval ratings, made light of the situation by reminding Meyers that Swift had previously endorsed him during the 2020 election cycle. When pressed for an answer on whether or not her support would continue, the president once again evaded the question, sticking to his “classified” response.
The pair also addressed concerns about Biden’s age, as he is the oldest president in U.S. history at 81 years old. The president acknowledged these concerns, jokingly saying “you’ve got to take a look at the other guy, he’s about as old as I am, but he can’t remember his wife’s name.” This comment was in reference to former President Donald Trump’s recent appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference, where he mistakenly referred to his wife Melania as “Mercedes.”
