A new CBS News survey just dropped, and it’s making waves. President Donald Trump is riding high with a 53% approval rating—his best across both terms so far.

Just a few weeks into his second term, Americans seem to acknowledge that Trump is doing what he said he would do. That’s the core takeaway from this survey, and CBS’s “Face the Nation” jumped right into it with a discussion between host Margaret Brennan and CBS News Elections and Surveys Executive Director Anthony Salvanto. Salvanto broke it down, saying that voters, whether they like him or not, recognize that Trump’s sticking to his promises. And that recognition? Turns out it has political value.

In fact, 70% of respondents said Trump is following through on those campaign pledges. Think immigration crackdowns, tough foreign policy moves, and efforts to reduce government waste. Salvanto also pointed out that words like “tough” and “energetic” still describe Trump to a majority of voters. Nearly 70% called him tough, 63% said he’s energetic, and 60% think he’s focused. So even though Trump’s been in office for just a few weeks this term, there’s already a perception among voters that he’s active and effective.

Now, let’s talk specifics. 49% said he’s actually doing more than they expected. Only 9% said he’s falling short. And on the issue of deporting criminal illegal immigrants, Trump’s getting solid support—59% approve of the crackdown.

But it’s not all smooth sailing. The survey showed concerns about the economy, particularly when it comes to rising prices. A whopping 66% think the administration isn’t doing enough to tackle the cost of goods and services. Eggs, gas, you name it—people are noticing those price jumps, with 63% reporting higher egg prices and 33% saying gas costs have gone up.

On the international front, Trump’s handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict earned him a 54% approval rating. However, there’s some controversy brewing after he announced plans for the U.S. to “take over” the Gaza Strip to help Palestinians achieve peace. That move left 47% of respondents disapproving, though a notable chunk of voters, 40%, are still unsure what to think.

So, where does this leave things? Trump is riding the wave of strong support for now, but economic concerns could test that momentum in the months ahead. Stay tuned—this presidency is just getting started.
