Oh, how the tables turn — and the irony practically writes itself. Letitia James, the New York Attorney General who’s spent the last five years chasing Donald Trump with the kind of obsessive vigor usually reserved for Netflix true crime documentaries, is now facing her own federal indictment. And not just any charge — bank fraud. You know, the exact kind of white-collar offense she smugly accused Trump of, over and over again, with all the righteous fury of someone who had already written the campaign ad for her next political gig.
According to a federal grand jury in Virginia, James allegedly lied on a mortgage application by claiming a Norfolk property was her second residence — which conveniently snagged her a sweeter loan deal. Problem is, she allegedly rented it out instead. That’s a big no-no. The kind of no-no that comes with up to 30 years per count in federal prison and $1 million fines per pop. But don’t worry — she’s denying everything and calling it “political retribution.” Because of course she is.
Let’s not forget: This is the same Letitia James who proudly strutted into her AG seat, promising to take down Donald Trump. Not just investigate — take him down. She practically ran on a platform of “Orange Man Bad,” and when she got into office, she made good on her promise by dragging Trump’s business empire through civil court, eventually slapping him with a jaw-dropping $500 million judgment. To the left, she was a hero — a warrior of justice. To the right, she was what she is now proving herself to be: a politically motivated operator who may have a few skeletons in her own closet.
And now, when she gets hit with a criminal indictment? Suddenly, the Department of Justice is “weaponized.” Suddenly, Trump is a “tyrant.” Suddenly, it’s “fascism.” Give us a break. These are the same Democrats who have applauded the DOJ’s every move against Trump, even when the cases were laughably weak or rested on technicalities no one would blink at if the defendant’s last name weren’t Trump. But now that one of their own is in the hot seat, it’s “abuse of power,” “revenge,” and “the death of democracy.” Apparently, “no one is above the law” only applies when the target has an ‘R’ next to their name.
Republicans like Rep. Elise Stefanik and Marjorie Taylor Greene hit the nail on the head. James has spent years weaponizing her office against her political enemies. Her moral grandstanding, her endless press conferences, her smug soundbites — all of it built around a persona of being the crusader for justice. Yet here we are, and it turns out maybe she was a little too familiar with the game. Stefanik rightly points out the hypocrisy: You can’t scream “no one is above the law” while apparently bending the law to get a better mortgage deal. That’s not crusading. That’s corruption with a press pass.
And just look at how fast the left circled the wagons. Chuck Schumer is out here throwing around words like “tyranny” and “revenge” like he’s auditioning for a History Channel documentary. Ritchie Torres, Jerry Nadler, and Kathy Hochul — all crying foul, as if it’s impossible their favorite Trump antagonist could ever do anything wrong. They’re acting like she’s being indicted for suing Trump, not for allegedly lying to a bank — something that, last we checked, is still illegal. Or is that law only enforceable when the defendant wears a red tie?
In 2023 CNN fake journalist Laura Coates passionately explained why Trump’s alleged mortgage fraud was not a victimless crime.
Now Coates is saying that Letitia James’ little mistake didn’t hurt anybody.

Meanwhile, Rep. Zohran Mamdani somehow managed to say “fascist tactics” with a straight face. Fascist? For prosecuting someone for bank fraud? Apparently, holding powerful Democrats to the same legal standards as everyone else now qualifies as authoritarianism. Good to know.
Here’s the deal: If the charges are true, Letitia James defrauded a bank to line her own pockets — not exactly the hallmark of a public servant protecting democracy. If they’re false, the justice system will sort it out, just like it supposedly does with every other citizen, including Donald J. Trump. But what we’re not going to do is pretend this is some shocking, unprecedented move. Democrats set this precedent. They built this political theater. They cheered as prosecutors, judges, and media outlets pounced on Trump day after day, indictment after indictment.
Letitia James ran for NY AG on a platform of lawfare.
As she engaged in political weaponization, she’d taunt Republicans with the phrase, “No one is above the law.”
Now, it turns out she was defrauding mortgage companies the whole time. Letitia, you’re not above the law either. pic.twitter.com/4JAia5pIoR

Now the boomerang has come back around. And suddenly, everyone on the left is clutching their pearls like they’ve never seen justice swing both ways.
Funny how that works.
