In a whirlwind of statements, Janet Jackson found herself at the center of a controversy this past weekend after remarks she made about Vice President Kamala Harris sparked confusion and debate. In an interview with “The Guardian,” the legendary pop star offered comments about Harris’s racial background that quickly had the media spinning out of control. Jackson’s words, which touched on Harris’s identity as a Black and Indian woman, caused a firestorm and prompted a swift response – but it appears that the apology wasn’t as clear-cut as it first seemed.
When asked about the prospect of Harris potentially becoming the first Black female president, Jackson made a startling remark: “She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian.” When the interviewer clarified that Harris is both Black and Indian, Jackson responded, “Her father’s White. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days.” These statements led to a flurry of reactions, as they seemed to reflect misinformation about the vice president’s background.
By Sunday, a statement was released by Mo Elmasri, who claimed to be Jackson’s manager. In the statement, Elmasri explained that Jackson’s comments were based on misinformation rather than her actual views on Harris. He further added that Jackson deeply respects Harris and her accomplishments, apologizing for any confusion her remarks may have caused. The statement also emphasized the importance of accurate representation in public discourse and committed to promoting unity.
However, the apology itself soon became the subject of speculation. Reports began to surface that Elmasri may not have been authorized to release the statement at all. According to “Variety,” representatives for Jackson clarified that Elmasri does not manage the singer, and her team did not approve the apology. In fact, Jackson is reportedly managed by her brother, Randy Jackson, which further complicated the situation. Elmasri’s involvement in Jackson’s career appears to be limited to a role as a “creative consultant” rather than a formal manager, leading many to question his authority to speak on her behalf.

The trolls in their media are now claiming that Janet Jackson is irrelevant despite the fact that she is having a very successful tour. The tour was more successful than that of her diva counterpart, Jennifer Lopez, who canceled her tour due to a lack of ticket sales. Lopez also recently endorsed Kamala Harris as president.
Janet Jackson played DFW a couple months ago and filled an arena. Dislike her response all you want, but claiming she’s “irrelevant” just makes you look clueless. “Irrelevant” people don’t create this type of reaction. https://t.co/X0KLbeUtFf
