Investigation Ongoing in DC National Guard Case

Here we are, just blocks from the White House, the day before Thanksgiving — and what do we get? Not turkey. Not parades. Not a peaceful celebration in the nation’s capital. Nope. We get two National Guardsmen shot in broad daylight, allegedly by an Afghan national who came to this country courtesy of Joe Biden’s infamous Operation Allies Welcome. You remember that little project, right? That’s the one where the Biden administration decided to rush tens of thousands of Afghans into the United States after his chaotic, humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan — the one where people were clinging to airplanes and falling from the sky. Yeah, that one.

Now, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan man, is accused of pulling the trigger in a targeted attack against two members of our National Guard. Right near the seat of American power. Right in the heart of D.C. And if this doesn’t raise every red flag about Biden’s border and immigration policies, then congratulations — you’re exactly the kind of person this administration is banking on to keep looking the other way.

Let’s rewind for a moment. Lakanwal entered the U.S. legally — key word “legally” here, which the left will cling to like a safety blanket — in 2021 under humanitarian parole. That’s political speak for “we were in a rush and didn’t have time to vet anybody properly.” Operation Allies Welcome was supposed to resettle people who helped U.S. forces. Fair enough in theory. But in practice? We got a flood of people brought in under loose guidelines and a prayer, shoved through the system faster than TSA on a holiday weekend. And now we’re left to clean up the mess.

Sure, Lakanwal apparently had some kind of relationship with U.S. agencies, including the CIA, back in Kandahar. But let’s not pretend that a prior connection overseas automatically means someone should be walking around free in D.C. Especially when they’re capable of this level of violence. How is it that someone who supposedly helped our intelligence community is now allegedly trying to murder our soldiers on American soil?

And oh, here’s the kicker: his asylum was reportedly approved during the Trump administration. But the fine print matters — that doesn’t mean Trump’s team handed him a free pass into the country. Lakanwal arrived after the Biden withdrawal, under Biden’s policies. Let’s be clear about who held the pen when he came through the door.

We’ve also learned that Lakanwal was living in Washington state with his wife and five kids. Totally off the radar, by the way. Quiet life in Bellingham — until suddenly he’s traveling across the country, ending up outside the White House with a gun in hand. And no one seems to know how he got there, or why. That’s comforting, isn’t it? Not even the people tasked with protecting us can track this guy’s movements before the bullets start flying.

According to police, the shooter “came around the corner” and just opened fire — no warning, no build-up. Just ambushed them. Thankfully, other Guardsmen jumped in and took him down, or who knows how many lives would’ve been lost. But let’s not forget: these weren’t just random civilians. These were National Guardsmen. Uniformed. U.S. military. And now they’re in critical condition.

President Trump called it what it was — an act of terror, an act of hatred, a crime against the nation. You may not like his tone, but you can’t argue with the truth. Meanwhile, the Biden team is, of course, radio silent on what happened. No accountability. No answers. And certainly no sign they’re going to rethink the “humanitarian parole” express lane anytime soon.

This is what happens when you prioritize political optics over national security. This is what happens when you open the gates wide and hope for the best. And this — this — is why Americans are fed up with being told everything is fine while the country bleeds, literally, on its own streets.
