She just came out and said it, folks.
It was truly remarkable.
Congresswoman Stacy Plaskett, one of the only unelected members of Congress, went on an unhinged rant.
In a heated session of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, Rep. Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat from the Virgin Islands, unleashed a scathing rebuke of the committee, its chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), and high-profile figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Plaskett, a ranking member, vehemently criticized what she viewed as the subcommittee’s true intent: to fuel far-right conspiracy theories and lay the foundation for a future dictatorship under Trump.
During her fiery speech, Plaskett did not hold back, even referring to Jordan as her “white male counterpart” while dismissing Musk as a “far-right conspiracy theorist.” She painted a vivid picture of the committee’s agenda as a breeding ground for dangerous ideologies like white nationalism and fascism, accusing it of being a Trojan horse to erode trust in vital institutions like the FBI and DOJ. According to Plaskett, these hearings are designed to normalize the idea of dismantling the agencies that act as safeguards against such extremist movements.
Her remarks only escalated as she anticipated the backlash she would face on social media. She predicted that X (formerly Twitter) users would brand her with racist and sexist epithets for challenging the committee’s leadership, particularly Jordan. Plaskett tied these accusations into a grand conspiracy against (she is mental).
Referring to Project 2025, a detailed plan she associated with Trump’s aspirations (which he has repeatedly denounced), Plaskett went on to describe the hearing as a form of “gaslighting” on a national scale, accusing the far-right of projecting their own authoritarian goals onto their opposition. Her rhetoric was especially sharp when discussing former President Trump, whom she portrayed as a looming threat to American democracy, likening his potential return to power as a move toward dictatorship.
In a moment that grabbed attention, Plaskett alluded to a controversial comment she made in 2023, when she stated on live television that Trump “needs to be shot,” a statement she quickly corrected to “stopped.” While this slip continues to fuel criticism from her opponents, it highlights the intensity with which she views the political stakes at hand.
Further shifting focus, Plaskett praised the efforts of Big Tech companies in curbing disinformation related to COVID-19 vaccines and election integrity. In her view, these platforms acted responsibly by trying to correct false narratives that posed public health and national security risks. However, she claimed that the current committee, by contrast, aims to undermine trust in elections and public institutions, bending to the will of figures like Elon Musk and other far-right influencers.
Just remember, if the GOP loses the House, she could be running the Committee.
