CA Lawmaker Voices Concerns Over Party Direction

The California political machine is starting to turn on itself—and not a moment too soon. When a seasoned Democratic heavyweight like Antonio Villaraigosa starts tossing rhetorical grenades at Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra, you know the dam is starting to crack. And not just a polite little fracture—this is more like the Hoover Dam sprouting leaks in five different directions.

According to Villaraigosa, the highest echelons of the federal government were actively involved in covering up what many Americans have long suspected: Joe Biden’s mental lights have been dimming for a while now, and someone—actually, a lot of someones—decided to hide that fact from the public.

Let’s be honest. Anyone with a functioning pair of eyes and ears has noticed something off about Biden for years now. The stumbles, the bizarre meandering stories, the blank stares. But instead of addressing it openly, Democratic operatives circled the wagons and turned the White House into the political equivalent of Weekend at Bernie’s—propping up a man clearly in decline while whispering to the press about how he’s “sharper than ever” and “laser-focused” on delivering for the American people. Spoiler alert: nobody bought it.

And now, Villaraigosa is saying that Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra—two figures with their eyes clearly on California’s governor’s mansion—were not just innocent bystanders but active participants in the cover-up. That’s not just a scandal; that’s political arson. Remember, both of them held the office of Attorney General in California. That’s supposed to be the top law enforcement job, the one charged with upholding transparency, accountability, and—what’s that quaint little word?—justice. But apparently, when it came to Biden’s obvious decline, that justice stuff took a backseat to protecting the party’s narrative.

Let’s pause for a moment and just marvel at the sheer gall of it all. Kamala Harris, who famously couldn’t manage to gain traction in her own party during the presidential primaries, is now being accused of helping keep a cognitively declining president on life support—politically speaking, of course. And Becerra, whose tenure as HHS Secretary was more of a bureaucratic ghost story than a profile in leadership, is painting himself as the faithful executor of Biden’s vision. Which vision, though? The one where Biden forgets names mid-sentence or the one where he confuses Ukraine with Iraq?

And yet, here we are, with Becerra defending his record by rattling off a list of health-related accomplishments, as though that somehow erases the growing questions about what he knew, when he knew it, and why he stayed silent. Harris, for her part, has opted for the usual strategy: radio silence. Which, let’s face it, is probably a better move than trying to string together one of her word-salad pressers.

This isn’t just a Washington scandal. This is a full-blown reckoning with how the Democratic establishment treats the American public—with contempt and manipulation. They didn’t trust voters to handle the truth about Biden’s condition, so they papered it over with speeches, soundbites, and a compliant media. And now that the truth is leaking out—thanks in no small part to Villaraigosa’s not-so-gentle nudge—California voters might start asking the right questions. Like, why should we trust the very people who lied to us to run the most populous state in the nation?

You don’t have to be a Republican to find this all a little too convenient, but it certainly helps to have a low tolerance for political gaslighting. It’s time for some sunlight. And if that means Kamala and Becerra have to squirm a bit on the campaign trail, so be it. After all, accountability is not a partisan issue—unless, of course, you’re a Democrat trying to avoid it.
