“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” Melania said in the video, dressed in black against a stark black screen. “Now the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder why law enforcement officials didn’t arrest the shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth.”
Melania’s pointed remarks were released on the same day her husband was set to debate Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, adding to the timing’s intrigue. While Melania’s statements suggest frustration with the investigation, they also cast doubt on the events surrounding the July 13th shooting, where gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks managed to position himself on a rooftop near the rally. From a vantage point 150 yards away, Crooks fired a shot that grazed Donald Trump, causing his ear to bleed.
